Here's something kind of new for me. I've never really tried to do an extremely dark background. I didn't use black I used a combination of phthalo blue and burnt sienna to get the dark background, at least I think that's what I used. It's hard to keep the rest of the painting clean with all that dark color but I think I succeeded. I'm happy with this little gem. Click to

I LOVE this dark black in the background. I always have difficulty choosing a back ground color(s). The black with the orange/green is actually quite stunning. Where did you find an orange with those gorgeous leaves?!
