"CHERRY #85"

I'm at number 85 in my 100 painting series. This is another cherry a little different than the first. Don't know why I painted another one - probably because they are so much fun. Who knows? Anyway it's just a little break in the animal parade.

"SUZIE"

Here's another goat from the Routt County Fair. I love these girls they have so much personality.
I mixed phthalo blue with a little phthalo green for the background - it's more vivid in the depth of the color than the camera can reproduce. You kind of have to see her in person to appreciate the full rich saturated color. I'm happy with this rendition of a sweet De Boer goat. Thanks!

"RED BULL"

I just love long horns - they have so much personality. There was a whole herd of them this summer down at the rodeo grounds. It's amazing how different they all are. Some have longer faces, bigger horns, all shapes and sizes. I try to capture a connection of sorts between the two of us - not sure if I get that but that's the goal. Thanks for following.

"TINY"

This is my first pig and boy are they hard to paint. They are big, round, not really furry and have small eyes. Tiny's eyes are way bigger than they should be but she needed bigger eyes to show off her great personality. To tell the truth pigs kind of scare me because of their sheer weight but after spending some time with them at the Routt County Fair it's not so daunting a feeling anymore.

"BABY"

I just can't tell you how much I like the way this little painting turned out. It's one of my all time favorites. It came together quickly - I didn't question any painting move on the gessoboard I just let it happen with out any hesitation. Thanks for following. Please pass this on if you like it!!!

"THE COW WASH"

I just love the 4H and FFA kids. The photo that inspired this painting was taken this summer at the Minn State Fair. This young girl was getting her Jersey calf ready to show, wash and a little blow dry should do the trick. The wash room was full of kids, cows, buckets and parents. Pretty impressive if you ask me. I painted this painting 5 times - and this is the only one that survived. I'd like to try it again larger but not really sure what I'm looking for at this time. It will come to me in the middle of the night. I do love this little 5 x 7. Thanks  MB!

"SCOTTY"

How's this for different? I took a picture of this Scottish Highlander this summer and really didn't know how to approach the idea in paint - still don't. Highlanders are so shaggy even their ears are shaggy. I love these animals and always stop to take some pictures. At the Minnesota State Fair - the competition Highlanders are combed out and blow dried. They look like a completely different animal. Don't know how to paint that either. Giving it my all as usual. Thanks, MB I'm going to make it!!!!
IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE A VALENTINE PORTRAIT FOR THEIR SPECIAL V DAY FRIEND THIS IS THE TIME TO ORDER PET - PEOPLE - CAR PORTRAIT! Paintings take 2  to  3 weeks to dry and varnish.

"1941 PLYMOUTH"

This is a 1941 Plymouth Special Deluxe Club Coupe. It's an extremely hard car to paint. Lots and lots of curves, weird angles and it's the color of butter. This car is parked on Missouri Street during the summer months. I have to give it another try someday.
Animal parade starts tomorrow and there are a lot of them.  I hope you are having a good time following my crazy painting path.

"DeSOTO'

I never thought I would be painting old cars. This vintage DeSoto was on display next to the Walleye booth at the Minn. State Fair this summer. Had I known I'd be painting cars I would've spent a little more time with my photography. Now I know better.  One more car and then a parade of animals. Thanks for following. If you want to purchase please call, text or email me.

"FORD FAIRLANE"

Originally this had a different background but it really didn't work. I knew orange would work so there you go. Cars are still a mystery to me. They are hard to paint and take way too much time. Wish I could find a faster way but it hasn't come to me yet. This Ford was in the City Market parking lot last summer I did not get a chance to meet the owner. Thanks for looking.

"BUG TRIO"

It turns out that I am still behind. So you get three bugs today in order for me to wrap this up by Valentine's day. I love doing it but I want to get some larger paintings finished for the bookstore show and time is running short. I don't know if I will get it all done but I'll give it my all.

"OLD BLUE"

"HOT TOMATO"

"BEACH BUG"
After the cars there will be a week of animals. This is how I wanted the blog to go but it's taken this long to get there and figure it out. I'm finally ready to produce 7 paintings of the same subject. Or maybe 6 we'll see how it goes. The animal week might go long because I'm having so much fun. Then again I'm having fun no matter what the subject. Thanks for following.

"CHERRY RED"

I saw this truck at the Routt County Fair. It was not red but green. I have a larger version started in green and decided to try a small one in red. Love this truck! Thanks for following my blog. Have a great day!

"ORANGE AND BLUE"

As most of you know - orange and blue are my favorite colors. I could paint these complementary colors till the cows come home. Today I was a girl on fire! I was so successful I just can't tell you how that feels. The stars were aligned for me today. It was too late to get pics. You'll just have to wait.

"LEMON VIEW"

I changed this painting at least twice and plan to try it again and again and again.  I have a lot of cars coming up in the next couple of days. Hope you like cars. If not check back in a week.
Thanks again for following my crazy, eclectic path. It's been so much fun to just grab something and paint it. Too many ideas floating in my head right now.

"BLUE RIBBON CHICKEN"

This little 3 year old was showing her chicken at the Routt County Fair this summer. I tried to show the chickens eye popping out of its head because she was holding it soooo  tight. I loved the spurs on her boots and her pigtails - She also had rhinestones on her jeans. It was a priceless moment in time!

"KETCHING UP"

You will not believe how hard it is to find a glass bottle of ketchup. I went to all the grocery stores in town to find a gem. All I could find was Heinz with balsamic vinegar added so it was a lot darker and with a different label. In essence I kind of had to make it up - here's my rendition! If anyone has an original old ketchup bottle save it for me. I got the idea for this painting this morning - I can't rest until it's finished. This is my first try. I wasn't altogether sure if I wanted the logo on the label. I will try one with the logo next.
Cherry collection. I found all of my old paints and decided to have some fun. I used 5 shades of red for the 3 cherry paintings. It's so silly to let it all go to waste. I was also interested in trying some fun stuff with color. Let it go so to speak. I owe some cherry paintings that's why there are 3 - I probably won't stop there either. It's a fun painting to do over and over.

Meyer Lemon's from Terry's garden. This was fun too but way hard for me.  I didn't have a preconceived notion of what I wanted. The lemons were all green - and to tell the truth I had a hard time with that concept. I changed it. It's kind of fun.
There you have it. I'm caught up and just where I want to be. I'm at 68 paintings! WOOHOO!
The post numbers will be off but I'm keeping track.
I am having a show at the Bookstore in March. It will feature the 100 paintings(at least what's left - probably 98 paintings) I'll send out the invite when the date gets closer. March 1st will be first friday - see you there???!!!

"PINK POLKA DOTS" NUMBER 60!

I'm at #60 today. I think I'm going to make it. I actually did this painting a long, long time ago and forgot all about it. It's not the best pic but you get the idea. I love this painting and want to do some more with those reflected polka dots. It's just so much fun. Anyway if interested click to buy or email me.

"ALL DRESSED UP"

This beautiful Belgian was all dressed up for competition at the Minnesota State Fair this year.  Belgians are so sweet and gentle. At the Routt County Fair - I had the pleasure of meeting many local Belgian owners at the Chuck Fulton Memorial Draft Horse Competition. I am working on a series of larger paintings from that event and will let you know when and where I will be showing them. If you like this you can Click to buy! or email for more info.

"COKE ADDICT"

Coca cola built my new studio. We were addicted to coca cola and the caffeine buzz it provided to get the three year studio project completed. I made a trip to City Market every week or twice a week to buy 12 packs of coca cola to get us through the next week of building. So yes I was addicted to coca cola - and that's the truth and that's where this painting came from. I was in City Market a couple of weeks ago and saw this sweet 4 pack - I had to bring it home. I love this little slice of caffeine.  Click to buy!

"THE NEIGHBOR"

I love to paint these yearlings that my neighbor grazes every summer. This painting originally had a dark blue back ground and it drove me bananas so one day I changed the color. I think it's a better now because it feels lighter and more interesting. Click to buy.

"ONCE IN A BLUE MOO - n"

I hope everyone had a wonderful new year! We went up to Rabbit Ears and skied. It was cold but it was some really great skiing with great friends. We're so lucky to live in such a great place.
This painting is from a photo I took out on River Road this summer. It was taken while on a bike ride. I wanted to do something different with it so I changed it to a full moon. It was fun to alter the entire meaning and look of this little painting. It's pretty loose and funky too. I am happy with how it turned out. Click to buy!
