SOLD - YIPEE KI YAY!

These didn’t make it to the gallery - SOLD before they dried!
I’ve been jamming along - sales have been unbelievably
strong. I know this is something you’ve seen before and I’m going to try
out some new images soon. In truth the gallery is enjoying my little
bit of success. Makes me look like a bonafide painter.
Do a snow dance for Colorado - it’s looking sad out there.
Thanks a bunch MB

PET PORTRAIT COLLAGE

A friend of mine commissioned all of these portraits over the years.
She sent me this fun collage - it really made my day!

I hope to be painting her new puppy “Meeker” soon.
Stay tuned and thanks - MB
On another note

I hope brings in a boat load of $$$$$

WINTER CARNIVAL 1960 for 2022

48”h X 36”w
Oil on panel
Sorry for no updates in between - I must’ve had 20 changes per day of painting.
Can’t tell you how many times visual elements got painted over and over again.
Painting has to dry - then get some varnish.
After that it’s out of my hands and on the way to get text added and photographed for the poster.
Thanks for waiting - MB
It’s time to clean my house and catch up on chores. You should see the studio - yikes what a mess!

2 NEW VIEWS

2days of painting.
Just trying to get some paint on every corner instead of getting stuck on one area.
Best laid plans anyway!
Thanks a bunch for looking MB

FIREWORKS

Fireworks finished unless I change my mind!
Trying not to obsess over any one thing too long - don’t want it to look overworked
I ended up using a paper straw dipped in paint to finish the fireworks
Turns out I didn’t like the look of the brush for fireworks
Below is a photo for scale - painting is 4 ft tall - 3 ft wide I’m standing on a stool to paint the top
Last photo includes all my reference photos for the painting
That’s it for now - I’ll try to keep my blog up to date
Thanks for all the encouraging emails - I appreciate hearing from everyone
Later MB - bad hair day as usual hence the cap!

MOON SHADOW STUDY

Study for larger painting for 2022 Winter Carnival Poster. I was asked to produce the poster art for the upcoming Winter Carnival in February 2022. It’s a huge responsibility and I know not everyone will appreciate the imagery. The image is from a 1960 postcard in the Tread of Pioneers museum collection. Kelsey, the person in charge likes my Rabbit Ears paintings and that vibe so you know me - if there’s an
old car to paint I’m in! The license plate will read WZ - 109. WZ for Steamboat of course and 109 for the 109th year of the winter carnival  - which is impressive in my book. It’s called Moon Shadow because I want it to be reminiscent of the full moon in February of 1960. The moon light is coming in from the left hand top corner. Not sure if I can pull it off it’s a huge challenge but I’ll give it my best.
Thanks for looking MB
Big painting is 48”h X 36”W - will be photographed and turned into a poster. Then the painting
will be auctioned off at the SSWSC event in December. Proceeds go to the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.

IT DOESN’T LOOK HARD!

The yellow line is the trail. Start on the right - go down to black bridge
Camp at the bottom where you see a tent - then hike up the left side.
OOH AAH POINT - a line forms for the photo op.
No matter when you hike this line will always appear.

These are the easy steps down.
The steps get much harder and steeper as you progress down the south Kaibab trail.
It’s really hard to photograph the canyon - especially when traveling in a group.
At this point we’re only an hour into the hike with 7 hours left to go.

BLUE

SOLD
30 X 40
I can’t tell you how exciting it is to sell a painting.
Especially a painting that doesn’t include the Space station or rabbit ears.
I was beginning to wonder if it was ever going to happen.
Woohoo! Made my day.
Hope all is well out there - feels like spring here MB

JUDITH GAP

Judith Gap, Montana
8 X 8
This is my second attempt at Judith Gap.
I’ve forgotten how to paint small. I usually create a calendar for the year out of
My Small works - 2021 didn’t see a Calendar because I didn’t have any images
worthy of a calendar. It’s been Steamboat all the time. I like my calendar
images to be a diverse collection. Not sure if Judith Gap will make it
on the 2022 calendar but it’s a start.
1st attempt is below - it got wiped the minute I finished it!

BIG STICK

Lulu passed away Friday unexpectedly
Lulu was an unusual corgi - the first time she saw water she jumped in and started swimming
She loved surfing the waves in California and chasing large sticks
Lulu was only 12 1/2 - we didn’t see this coming

I hope everyone out there got to see the inaugural concert with Tom Hanks as host.
