"YOGI BEAR"

SWEETEST SOUL EVER - KIND - LOVING - PLAYFUL

I'm so glad I met Yogi Bear. His owner told me that his eyes were a piercing amber color - I have never seen eyes that round and that bright - I worked on Yogi's eyes for 2 days - no kidding! I hope I got it somewhat close. What a great dog.
Also wanted to inform everyone my internet was out hence no blog. Sorry but that's technology for ya!
Hope all is well with everyone. Thanks for following.

"PIPER"

RED WAS HER COLOR - HIKING HER  PASSION
Piper's story by Lindsay - She was my only friend and companion when I moved to Colorado.
She loved hiking with me. We called her Piper, Piper the Red, red worm as she'd wriggle
about in the dirt every time she'd get out of the water.
I have rubies in my wedding band for her.

"ICEKREM"

ROUTE 66 SERIES
All I can tell you is that Scruffy got the best of me today.I blotted him with newsprint and he's  ready for tomorrow. Trying to give you the best I have to offer so you must wait another day for a successful Scruffy.
Nothing to post for pets so I thought I'd give you something else for a change. The Route 66 Series is on display at Harwigs if you're interested.
Thanks for following!

"ELSIE"

ELSIE SURVIVED HURRICANE KATRINA
She had a fear of running out of food to eat - pretty sweet
She was rescued and found her forever home - Elsie changed their lives forever.
OK so why 2 portraits.
Well I've painted Elsie at least 5 times - the paintings have all been wiped away and these are the 2 that survived for various artistic reasons. I could not make up my mind and make a clear choice on which photo worked the best - on occasion I have to try it different ways before I'm satisfied. I love the way both of these turned out - the Elsie lovers will have to choose which one works for them.
Keep in mind that I make decisions based on composition and design - I may have conveyed that a particular photo may work and find out it doesn't - I make the decision to change it based on a gut reaction.
PAINTINGS TAKE AT LEAST TWO WEEKS TO DRY - THEN A DAY TO VARNISH!
Next in line - SCRUFFY - TILLY & HERBIE
THANKS

"KENAI"

SUPER SWEET
This lucky dog has found his forever home - after he fell off a truck at 8 weeks old and got run over. His owner never noticed and didn't stop. Kenai was at the vet for a month!
The stories coming in for this portrait project are important reminders to celebrate these wonderful animals and their forever homes.
Thanks for letting me be a part of this great experience.

This magnificent dog was a competitor at the cattle dog trials a couple of weekends ago. I can't get enough of this great dog. Thanks for following.

"POUDE"

Here's a portrait for the fund raiser. I had a heck of a time working with the photo - it took me till today to figure out why. Poude was standing on all fours which made it difficult to differentiate between the body and the head especially since he's mostly black. I had to pretend he was sitting and try to imagine his shape - don't know if I even came close. So if you are ordering a portrait think about the pose and how it translates into a painting. If not satisfied I'll give it another go. It's all practice.  Thanks!

"TAKE IT OFF"

Mustang rally. I have been trying some new stuff will post soon. I was invited to show at Harwigs for July and it's been quite unnerving. I have 2 weeks to prepare a show - it will be a retrospective of the last 3 years - but I'm trying to get a few new things to show.
I've been going crazy hence the lack of posts. I've been painting like crazy just no pics yet.
Opening for Harwigs will be July 5th Friday 5 to 8. If you're  in town please stop by.
More later. Thanks for following.

"COMPLEMENTARY"

Complementary colors are probably my favorite thing to paint in any form. These two were cruising the Mustang Rally scene on saturday down Lincoln Ave. Love the color combos. Thanks for following.

"TINY'S SISTER"

Here it is the other one.

"THE GREEK"

I met this woman on the beach May of 2011. She didn't speak any english but her daughter said it was OK to snap a pic. I've waited this long to paint her because I didn't know how to accomplish the task. The time was right. Thanks for following.

"LOONY LU"

TIP: If you ever want a studio type photo of your pet take the picture out on the snow in the shadows on a sunny day. I couldn't believe the colors and reflected light from the photo I used of LuLu to paint this portrait. Learning something new every day. Thanks for following.

"HOW DO I GET TO CARNEGIE HALL..............PRACTICE"

Well -  I figure I better practice and get some new samples if I'm going to paint pets for a fund raiser. It's been a while since I've done any animals and it's pretty intimidating - I gotta get through it.
Also - I'm signing my paintings on the front - I guess that is what's expected of a painter - I hope it's not too distracting.  Thanks for following.

"JOY"

I haven't painted a moving corgi so here's my first attempt. Georgi doesn't have much color either - it made it tough to interpret a pale brown dog moving fast. Anyway I thought we all needed a little humor right about now and felt this might help. I will be doing some fund raisers this year. Pet portraits - 30 pets in 30 days - I'll try anything - birds - goats - pigs - what ever you have around the house. The total cost will be 125.00 - 100 bucks will go to the cause(to be determined)and 25 bucks to me(for supplies)   I'd love to do some dogs driving! Let me know if there is any interest out there. Thanks MB

"FLYING COLORS I"

36" X 24"
Oil on canvas
To see new blog design you may have to refresh your page click on link http://mbwarner.blogspot.com/

I hemmed and hawed about this image. The original Flying Colors study is quite different from this rendition. I tried every combination of horse and rider and this is the one that stuck. This painting will be framed and shown at Center for Visual Arts for June(if it's dry). I need a better photo but you get the idea. Thanks!

"COW - boy II"

16" X 20"
Oil on canvas board
I needed to paint something a little larger because I need new work for the gallery for June.  I have been quite stuck and apprehensive to get started on something of this size(from 36 sq in to 320 sq in). It was quite intimidating to have so much canvas staring me in the face. I got through it and am happy with the results. I'm slowly getting unstuck and productive. Thanks for following.
Do you like the new style blog? Is the darker background better for the work? Let me know what you think.

"TRIO"

I've always wanted to paint some semi's so this is my first go at it. They're kind of fun so you'll probably see some more. Go figure! Thanks for following.

"DRIVE UP"

In Montrose, CO you can get your cigs and beer without leaving your car.  I don't know why I find this so odd but I do. Just had to paint it.
I'm not up to speed yet and not sure when the turbo is going to kick in - can't force it. More coming at a turtles pace. Thanks!

"BUD"

Bud - chainsaw art at its finest! You too can visit this roadside distraction - Parachute, CO.
OK - so I had to start somewhere.
I can feel the pressure!

"ENGINE #95"

I am back but not producing yet. I did this painting before I left for my much needed visual - exciting vacation.  The recipient of this painting turned 95 in May and he's a steam train buff. It was fun to paint.

I will try to get some work out to you soon but I'm kind of overwhelmed with the choices.
4 weeks - 4,500 miles - 2500 photos!
I hope you are all well.
Thanks for being patient.

"SWEETY"

I know it's been a while but really I have been working.  I just completed this 16" X 20". It took me a while to get it to where I wanted it - I think it's there. I want my portrait assignments to have a painterly quality and also represent the subject as accurately as the process and my artistic ability will allow.
Thanks for following. Sorry it's a longtime in between postings it's just the way it is right now.
